2.1.12 All OHV Motors must have OEM Scatter Shield in place or comparable steel replacement.
2.2 DRIVERS MEETING
2.2.1 All drivers will attend a mandatory driver’s meeting. Local flag rules, starting procedure, yellow flag procedure, reentering the racetrack, lap traffic instructions and event schedule and safety issues will be discussed. The race director may elect to start any driver who misses the drivers meeting at the rear of heat and or feature event.
2.2.2 It is recommended that the crew chief / supervising adult accompany young racers to the drivers meeting.
2.3 FLAGS & THEIR MEANINGS AND RACE CALLS
2.3.1 * Checkered Flag - the race is finished. Slow to a moderate pace for exiting the track. Proceed slowly to the scale and post tech area.
2.3.2 * White Flag - one lap to go in the race.
2.3.3 * Black Flag
2.3.3a Rolled & pointed: A warning about driver conduct
2.3.3b Waved (open) Black Flag: You must exit the track immediately because you have been disqualified for a driving infraction or unsportsmanlike conduct, unsafe equipment or loss of safety apparel. If a participant ignores the black flag along with his/her number being displayed by the flagman, that person will be disqualified for that race.
2.3.3c Mechanical Black Flag in a feature could receive last place points at the Race Director’s discretion.
2.3.4 * Red Flag - the race has been temporarily halted. After slowing to a safe stop, drivers shall proceed safely to the start/finish line.
2.3.4a If the red flag occurs prior to the halfway point, the race may be restarted. Restarts will be in the same order as the last completed and scored green flag lap prior to the red flag.
2.3.4b If the red flag occurs at or after the halfway point, the race may score as a completed race and the results will reflect the last completed green flag lap. Karts involved in the incident will be scored at the rear of the field. The officials will make every effort for the event to finish under a green flag; however time and conditions may require the race to be scored as complete. Red flagged races will be declared official if the track officials decide the event cannot be completed. The race director will decide if your kart can restart the event.
2.3.4c Any kart or driver flipping over (turning over) causing a red flag will only be allowed to restart with the permission of the race director and the Emergency Medical Personnel’s approval. Any driver leaving the racetrack, due to an accident, by ambulance, will not be allowed to restart. Any driver causing a red flag may be subject to not restarting, as determined by the race director.
2.3.5 * Green Flag - Start; course is clear.
2.3.6 * Blue Flag with Yellow Stripe - A lapping kart is attempting to pass, give him consideration.
2.3.6a If you continue to block the progress of the faster karts, you may be black flagged and pulled off the course.
2.3.6b Slow car is to move to the top of the track to allow faster cars to pass on inside.
2.3.7 * Yellow Flag - there is danger on the course and there is a need for caution.
2.3.7a When a yellow flag is displayed anywhere on the track, it signifies a full course caution. Do not race back to the line on a yellow flag.
2.3.7b When the yellow flag is displayed, slow down. There will be no passing until the green flag is displayed again.
2.3.7c The leader will raise their hand so the field can reform in single file for the restart.
2.3.8 * Checker AND Black – When both flags are thrown this means that the race is under protest.
2.3.9 Other Flag combinations may be used to signify half way mark, 2 laps to go, etc.
2.4 POST RACE TECHNICAL INSPECTION
2.4.1 The top 3 finishers in the feature race must weigh in with kart and driver.
2.4.2 The Race Director or his appointed race official will decide how many karts will be impounded for technical inspection.
◊ The Technical Director will decide what and how much tech will be done in each class.
◊ Tech may be waived if the top five drivers unanimously consent.
2.5 OTHER
2.5.1 No Radio Communication between driver and pit crew will be permitted while driver is in kart.
2.5.2 No mirrors allowed on karts.
2.5.3 Beginners (1st time to race) will be required to start at the back for all races.
2.5.4 Kart teams are responsible for keeping their pit area free of litter and dangerous obstacles. (This includes cigarette butts too!)
2.5.5 All drivers must register prior to the race, you must sign in each night, and you must race the kart you sign in to receive points.
2.5.6 A driver must be able to demonstrate the required skills to enter a class, if requested to by the race director.
2.5.6.a If the skills do not meet the class standard of the participants to race in a class, you may be asked to race in slower or less crowded class for safety.
2.5.6.b Any driver racing in a higher level class in 3 or more events may not move back down to slower level class. (*To clarify:
"slower level" was not the best term to use, however what we mean is once you move up from a beginner class ie: from Kid Kart to 3.5 Beginner, OR from 3.5 Beginner to 3.5 advanced. Example: you can't run Super Stock and then want to run in Kid Kart later. Running two classes is still allowed for experienced drivers. For example: such as Super Stock and Modified, or Modified and World Formula. This rule was put into place to protect beginner drivers and to keep the more experienced drivers from trying to compete with them for an easy win just because they qualify for the class on the basis of age.)
2.5.7 Classes may be added to race program provided here if there are at least 4 karts registered. Race Director may combine classes if fewer than 3 in any given class are registered. (Combined classes will be scored separately.)
2.5.8 Any rule discrepancies will be settled based on the IKF tech manual.
2.6 KART NUMBERS
2.6.1 All karts must have legible numbers at least 6 inches in height affixed to both sides and back of kart. Numbers must be in contrasting colors (ie: white on black) – if score keepers can’t read you kart number you may not get scored for your race! Numbers on back of kart are required so that other drivers know who to get behind in the event of re-starts.
2.6.2 All kart numbers must be registered with and pre-approved by KAM Kartway.
2.6.3 Numbers can not exceed 3 digits/characters long.
2.6.4 In the event a kart is damaged during any heat, a back up car if available may be used to finish out the night, but will start at back of all remaining races.
2.6.5 No substitute drivers will be allowed.

3.1. Heat winners receive 5 points, per heat.
3.2 B-Main points start after last place A-Main. (Example: 12 karts in A-Main, 1st in B-Main receive 40 points.)
3.3 If you are disqualified or get a black flag in your feature, you will forfeit any accumulated heat & feature points for the event. You may not Drop DQ. (excluding mechanical BF)
3.4 To qualify for series end awards you must complete at least 50% of races. (In the event that a driver receives points that put him/her in a trophy/award position but has not completed the 50%, and provided that no one else is eligible for the position, they may be given the option to purchase award at the track owner’s discretion.)
3.5 All points will be cumulative through entire series.
3.6 In the feature a DNF (Did not finish) will get last place points. Kart must have entered track for feature to qualify for a DNF.
3.7 In the feature a DNS (Did not start) will be awarded points as follows: Ran first heat only, 10 points; ran bot heat #1 and heat #2 will get 20 points.
3.8 In the event of a rain out prior to completion of second heat being raced all registered drivers will receive 95 points. If both heats have been completed, points will be based on Feature Grid.
3.9 In the event of a series end tie in points, tie will be broken by the number of feature wins, second tie breaker will be the number of heat wins.
SECTION #4: HEAT RACE PROCEDURES
4.1 Each driver will draw for heat races when they register for that day’s event. Registration closes when the scheduled Drivers Meeting begins.
If the driver is late and misses draw, that driver will start both heat races in last position.
4.2 The second Heat race line-up is the 1st Heat race inverted.
4.3 The Heat race finishes are added together to determine the Feature line-up. In the event of a tie, the driver with the highest points breaks tie, or in the event of no points for either driver then the draw number will break tie
4.4 The suggested maximum number of karts per heat is 8. When more than 8 karts have registered and drawn for a class, that class will be split into an A and B for both heats.
4.5 STARTS:
4.5.1 Flagman starts all races on the initial green flag. Green will be given when front row karts are keeping a reasonable pace and front karts are in line, and are approaching the start line at the same pace.
4.5.2 Any kart jumping the start twice may be placed elsewhere in the line up.
4.5.3 Flagman may call “No Start” if, at his discretion drivers did not make clean start.
4.6 In the event of a Yellow or Red flag:
4.6.1 the kart causing the caution will be sent to the rear and re-start will be based on the last completed lap.
4.6.2 If multiple karts are involved, Race Director may make all karts involved go to the rear.
4.6.3 If officials do not agree on a particular call (ie: who caused a caution), karts may be lined up for restart based on last lap completed.
4.7 REPAIRS: REPAIRS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED DURING HEAT RACES.
4.7.1 Any kart stopped will be pushed to the middle or off the track. If this occurs during a caution, you will be allowed 1 pace lap to restart kart. Other wise if your kart stalls and is clear of track race will stay green.
4.7.2 You will only be allowed to restart kart twice during any given heat race, and only if it is during a caution. If your kart stalls during a caution that you did not cause driver will be given spot back on re-start, only if kart is restarted within the allotted time of that caution. If in restarting your kart it delays the re-start of the race you will be sent to the rear.
4.7.3 If you die in the shoot (prior to green flag) you will be given approximately 2 pace laps to start and enter track. Once the gate closes you may NOT enter the track.
4.8 Any kart involved in or causing more than 2 cautions may be sent to pits.
SECTION #5: FEATURE RACE PROCEDURES
5.1 There will be a 20-minute time limit on all Feature Races, beginning when the chute gates are closed.
5.1.1 If the race stops for any reason after 20 minutes, the race will be called. The last completed lap will determine the Feature Finish.
5.2 Most Feature races will be 20 laps (except for kid karts and 3.5 hp classes)
5.3 Parents and other kart representatives are NOT allowed on the infield during the racing program, unless authorized by the Race Director. Exception: Kid Karts may have one parent on the track during their races.
5.4 Anyone crossing the racetrack during a race is subject to disqualification of his or her kart for that race.
5.5 STARTS:
5.5.1 The Flagman will start all races with an initial green flag.
5.5.2 A Green flag will be given when the front row karts are keeping a reasonable pace, and front row karts are in line.
5.5.3 If all karts do not make a “clean start” to the “Start/Finish” line, a “NO START” may be called.
5.5.4 Any kart(s) jumping the start 2 times may be moved to the last place position.
5.5.5 If kart dies in the shoot (Before Gate), you have 30 seconds (or 2 laps) to start your engine to keep position. After that time you will may be allowed on the track at the Race Director’s discretion and be moved to the last place position. The Race Director will determine if it is safe to enter the track.
5.6 In the event of a Yellow or Red flag:
5.6.1 the kart causing the caution will be sent to the rear and re-start will be based on the last completed lap.
5.6.2 If multiple karts are involved, all karts involved go to the rear.(Officals may make call to protect the leader if he/she were intentionally made to be involved in the caution.)
5.6.3 If officials do not agree on a particular call (ie: who caused a caution), karts may be lined up for restart based on last lap completed.
6.6 REPAIRS: (You may not make repairs on the track. If you break you go to the repair WORK AREA designated prior to the race.)
6.6.1 Any kart stopped on the track during the race and causing a yellow flag will be required to push kart to Work Area designated prior to the feature race. You will be allowed a 1 minute window (under yellow) to repair or restart your kart and enter back on track in the rear of the pack.
6.6.2 If you pull off the track for whatever reason, and the track is clear, the race will stay green. If you pull into infield the Flagman may throw a yellow at which time you will need to go to the WORK AREA.
6.6.3 Work Area repair during race is only allowed 1 time. In other words if you die or break and have already used your 1 minute window in the Work Area the second occurrence may cause your kart to be sent to the pits.
6.6.4 If break down occurs on or just prior to 1 5 laps to go, Flagman may continue race if track is clear.
6.7 Kart must pull off the track for a Black flag for safety/mechanical related issues. (ie: loosing neck collar, loosing bumper, etc.)
SECTION #6: PROTEST AND ENGINE TECH PROCEDURES
6.1 At the Race Director’s and/or Track Owner’s discretion he or she may tech any kart including, but not limited to, motor, fuel, safety, etc. as they see fit.
6.2 All Competitor Protests must be submitted to the Race Director in writing within 15 minutes of completion of the heat race and/or prior to the beginning of the feature race that is being protested.
6.2.1 The competitor that is making the protest will also pay a $65.00 dollar “Protest Fee” in the event that they are protesting an engine.
* In the event that the engine fails tech or the kart owner refuses to be teched, that kart and driver will forfeit any and all points for that race event. Refusing tech a second time during any race series may result in being bared from the track.
* $25.00 from the Protest Fee will be paid to the engine tech, $40.00 goes to the engine being teched in the event that they are found to be legal and in compliance with the KAM Kartway Rules and procedures, otherwise that $40.00 will be forfeited to the track Awards Fund.
6.3 MOTOR CLAIMS: Only 3.5 Hp (beginner and advanced) and Pure Stock classes are subject to this rules at this time. (This rule is to keep classes competitive.)
6.3.1 The motor must be claimed before the green flag of the feature. You may get a Claim Form from one of the score judges and will need to present the form with payment to the Race Director – PRIOR TO THE GREEN FLAG OF THE FEATURE.
6.3.2 Claimer’s AND Claimee’s karts must finish the A-Feature in the top 3. Only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers can be claimed.
6.3.3 Claimer must have raced at KAM Kartway a minimum of 2 times before being eligible to claim any motor.
6.3.4 Promoter has the option of claiming any motor after the A-Feature is complete for claim price. The Promoter will auction claimed motor at the next race event.
6.3.5 Refusal of claim will result in a 2 race suspension for 1st offense. Second refusal will result in being suspended for the remaining race series.
6.3.6 Claim fees:
6.3.6a 3.5 HP classes and/or all 3 and 3.5 hp engines will be $250.00
6.3.6b Pure Stock class and/or all 5, 6, & 6.5 hp engines will be $300.00
6.3.6c CLAIM FEES WILL BE PAID FOR IN CASH ONLY.
6.3.7 All Claims are final.
6.3.8 With notice, Promoter reserves the right to change any rule or regulation to make classes equal and fair.
6.3.9 Motor claim will be complete engine less Header, Chain guard, Clutch, Motor Mount and starter nut.
6.4 If officials do not agree on a particular call (ie: who caused a caution), karts may be lined up for restart based on last lap completed OR both karts involved may be sent to the back.
